There are very few practices around the world as common as drinking alcohol and almost every culture has a different tipple that is traditional or exclusive to their area. If you are passing through, a dose of the local drop can often add to your travel experience and in some cases such as Oktoberfest or Spain’s Haro Wine Festival a particular beverage is at the very core of the experience. TED is a non-profit organisation on a mission to “spread ideas” in order to encourage a deeper understanding of the world. It stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design which are three broad subject disciplines that impact each of our lives daily. TED reaches it’s goals by organising conferences around the world where motivating participants are invited to deliver a short, thought provoking, powerful talk of 18 minutes or less “It’s a winning formula of brilliant, curious minds and groundbreaking content in an immersive and focused environment”.
The seven TED travel talks I have selected below are all delivered by celebrated experts on topics they feel passionate about. They have the ability to communicate their knowledge in an attention-grabbing way. I’ve always thought that you can learn so much by traveling to different places and immersing yourself in different cultures. I hope that these seven travel talks inspire those who do not realise the value of travel or whose idea of travel is going to an all-inclusive resort in Bali for a week and not leaving the resort, or those that want to travel more but just need that extra push. The world is literally a classroom. Get out there and be curious! [Read more…]
